![]() Not a terribly big deal but I always find there's a certain feeling of loneliness in games when you click on the high score option in the menu and it's empty. There used to be an online leader board but that's pretty much gone. It feels simplistic at times which isn't necessarily a bad thing, not every puzzle game has to make you run to youtube for a solution. Many times I didn't have to even think about what I was doing, I just built the same bridge-like structure I'd built 20 times before.Īs an early adopter of the physics-based puzzle game there's obviously a lot of room for "I wish they had done this." in here. This makes levels often feel easier than they probably should be. So long as enough goo escapes for you to hit the levels target there's no reason to be careful with your usage. There's really no incentive to go for high scores or improve your play. If nothing else it's a pleasant nostalgia trip to a simpler time. The art is stylistic and has held up okay. There was a certain feel to the indie games that were being released for PS/Xbox/Wii at the time and World of Goo nails it perfectly. You get that "Aha! Clever!" feeling at points that I really enjoy when playing physics games. There were a few I had to restart and occasionally you run into a puzzle where the solution seems to be "Build as fast as possible before it all falls apart" which adds a certain hecticness to it at times. The puzzles, controls and concepts are all pretty simple. The controls and concepts are fairly simple and make for a nice relaxing experience without the screen demanding you feed it $1.99 to unlock a single-use ability or get another try at the level without having to restart. World of Goo stands out as having an honest to goodness plot with a beginning, middle and end. Physics based puzzle games have gone through all sorts of evolution's. The less goo we use making our structure, the more goo escapes, the higher our score. ![]() We place and create links between blobs of goo that will allow the remaining free goo to travel along paths we take to the levels goal point. What they're for and what's going on and.why we're doing it is a mystery that we will have to slowly unfold. We play as an unnamed entity, guiding the creatures of the world of goo into mysterious pipes that had popped up all over the land. ![]() Released in 2008 this is another in my ongoing series of "Don't you wish we could go back to a time before P2W mobile games?" While it would never win any critical acclaim, you were hard pressed to find somebody in 2008 who hadn't either played it or at the very least heard of it. World of Goo is a puzzle game developed by 2D Boy. Also there is no violence in this game, so it's suitable for any age.A gaming sub free from the hype and oversaturation of current releases, catering to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. The graphics are simply lovely, the "goo"s are cute and the puzzles are mostly clever. This was most probably the only disadvantage of the game. There was only 1 map in particular where I think the game was buggy on PC as the console play on Youtube showed a flawless playthrough. I think I watched Youtube for solving 2 maps. There were few maps very frustrating, but it's obviously due to my own logic. Sometimes you have only 1 way to solve a puzzle, but still you can try as many times you need. I kept it all the years because I "googled" it and it looked genuine and interesting even to my violent innerself at that time and what a clever decision it was. ![]() I kept it all the years because I OK, I think I played it in 2020 and it was on a bundle DVD packed next to a PC magazine many years ago.
